Kim joined SAAS in August 2019 as an Academic Advisor for Football (QB, WR) and Men’s and Women’s Swim and Diving. Previously, Kim served as the Academic Counselor for Football and Rowing at Kansas State University.
In her previous role, Kim coordinated academic support for Football (offense) and Rowing, monitored graduation requirements and projected initial high school eligibility. She also assisted in on-campus recruiting and various student-athlete development programming. Kim taught K-State’s Student-Athlete Services freshman seminar course which focused on academic, personal and career development. She developed curriculum for Summer Bridge, along with helping spearhead K-State Women Leaders, a group for female student-athletes and staff.
Kim is involved with Women Leaders in College Sports as she was selected to attend the organization’s 2016 Women’s Leadership Symposium. Additionally, she was chosen as a mentee in the Women’s Leaders Rising Star 2016-2017 Mentor Program. Kim is also a member of the National Association for Academic Advisors (N4A). Most recently, she was selected for the organization’s 2019 Steve McDonnell Professional Development Institute. She has also presented at the N4A Region III and IV Conference on student-athlete mental health, sharing her own experiences as a student-athlete and how advisors can help their students who may be struggling. Kim is extremely passionate about mental health advocacy and continues to volunteer as a Crisis Counselor with the Crisis Text Line.
Kim received her Master of Science in College Student Development with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics at Kansas State University, while serving as a Graduate Assistant Advisor for Football and Men’s Golf. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Sacramento State, where she was a member of the women’s division I rowing team. A native of San Diego, California, Kim is happy to be back in warmer weather!
