Community Outreach is a vital piece of student-athlete development. It gives USC Student-Athletes an opportunity to give back to the greater community, while simultaneously providing invaluable life opportunities. Many Student-Athletes do not get the chance to maintain a job or internship during their college career. Giving back through community service helps Student-Athletes gain crucial volunteer experience and provides great resume building opportunities. USC is committed to community outreach and athletics has stayed consistent with the University’s mission. The Trojan Athletic Senate has set an annual goal of 5 community service hours per Student-Athlete. In 2010-2011, USC Student-Athletes performed over 3300 hours. Following the record-breaking year of 2010-2011, USC Student-Athletes completed over 2700 hours in 2011-2012. In the past 5 years, USC Student-Athletes and Staff have completed nearly 10,000 hours of volunteer outreach.
