Dr. Kevin Bolen

Dr. Kevin Bolen joined the SAAS staff as a Learning Specialist in 2012. 

In his current role as the Assistant Director for Academic Support, he continues to serve as a Learning Specialist, maintaining a caseload of student-athletes that he provides academic guidance to. Kevin also assists student-athletes as a liaison between Disability Services & Programs and the Athletic Department. His other responsibilities include guiding student-athletes through the use of assistive technologies and co-supervising the Assistant Learning Specialist program which aims at training and developing USC Graduate Students for possible careers as Learning Specialists. Additionally, Kevin helps to coordinate the SAAS Tutorial Program by creating and implementing the training curriculums for the tutorial staff team.

Prior to joining the SAAS staff, Kevin was both a part-time and full-time employee at USC from 1999-2012. He worked for six years with the Office for Residential Education as a Residence Coordinator. Kevin also had numerous responsibilities working at the Center for Academic Support/Disability Services & Programs offices as a Counselor, Assistant Technology specialist, and Assistant Director. None was more important than providing support to students with disabilities as they worked with faculty and staff to create accessible educational environments.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Education from UC Santa Cruz, Kevin attended USC and received a Master’s Degree in Post-Secondary Administration & Student Affairs, as well as a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. 

He is a dedicated member of his church and enjoys working as a part of the youth ministry. He was born and raised in a small farming community in Northern California. Kevin currently resides in the South Los Angeles area with his wife Kari and two daughters, Kayla and Kaiya.
